AIRTube is a little Adobe AIR application for downloading videos from Youtube. Adobe AIR gives developers the right framework to do almost anything. AIRTube is one of those applications that makes it easy to carry out a certain task. That task is downloading videos off YouTube. Downloading files is extremely easy. All you need to do is drag the URL of the video that you want to download to the AIRTube window and wait for the file to download. Also, you can copy and paste that URL. Once activated, the application will send a request to Youtube's servers and initiate a download. The file will be downloaded onto your desktop as video.flv. AIRTube even has a preview window which allows you to see the video right after you download it. The only thing this application is missing in my opinion is a batch-download feature. Adding several YouTube URLs and having the application download those videos for you would be terrific. Also, you might want to get an FLV player to watch those videos later or a converter to convert to other popular formats. Now, all I just said sounds great and it should be like that, but for some bizarre reason, I can't get AIRTube to download a single video. I don't think I am doing anything wrong. The application's idea is solid. However, I can't see past this irritating error: Invalid URL. |
